Apocalypse POW! – Bout report by Furrrocious

March 11th, 2013

Just over a year ago we had our very first home bout: the Rollergirls of the Apocalypse came to Amsterdam for AmsterBAM. Saturday, it was our turn to travel to Kaiserslautern, Germany to have another face-off. Unfortunately, we were down three players, so our team consisted of only 9 skaters. We were not too worried: at our last bout we played with 9 skaters and we kicked ass!

From our sponsor Just Like Your Mom Tour Support we got two vans to drive to Kaiserslautern, and after a smooth ride we arrived perfectly on time. It was an absolute pleasure being hosted by RGA, as they are such a well-organised league. We had what we needed in our dressing room and felt welcome.

While the RGA The Night Terrors took on the RocKArollers, the first part of this doubleheader, we found a quiet spot to do some stretching.

The bout started slightly later than planned, but at the whistle, it did start with a POW! RGA clearly set the pace from the get-go. With a power jam against ADD, we were behind with about 30 points after only a couple of jams, but that didn’t stop us: at half-time there was a 1 point difference. The game was fast and intense. The second half was even more exciting, as the lead in points was constantly changing, even tied at some point! At the end we were left with only 8 players after one fouled out. In the last few jams, RGA got back in the lead and scored a large amount of points in a power jam to win the game.

It was an epic bout! A lot of hard hits, quick jammers, impressive tactics and let’s not forget: great officiating (led by the amazing London Derriere). A special thanks goes out to the officials crew who must have had a tough bout to officiate.

ADD All stars and Dominic! With his pink Mohawk the girls thought he should be our mascot:

After the bout we went back to the hotel to freshen up and to get ready for the after party at the sports bar. The RGA girls had prepared capes as awards for best blocker, best jammer and MVP.

For ADD RGA voted best blocker: Abs of Steel, best jammer: Vix Vendetta and MVP: Jamakaze.
For RGA, ADD voted for best blocker: Thora, best jammer: Jumpin’ Jax Smash and MVP NebrAss Kick’r.

We definitely tried winning the after party with a lot of dancing, singing, laughing and even some beer pong. ;)

Thanks again RGA for hosting a great event and making everything run very smoothly!

…and the fun just doesn’t stop!

November 22nd, 2012

These last two months of the year have proven to be really busy in Derbyland. We’ve had Skates of Glory, and last week Queens of the Track in Berlin, where many an ADD girl was either present to NSO or sat behind her computer for the whole weekend to watch all the action on the WFTDA live stream.

And guess what? In three more weeks you’ll be able to witness another big derby day: 16 December 2012, save the date!

Just before everybody needs to start organising Christmas gifts and dinners, the Amsterdam Derby Dames will host a jam-packed afternoon where both the A-team and the B-team will be playing their socks off: the first, and probably last, doubleheader of 2012.

The Devil Dolls will come all the way from Essen in Germany for some Season’s Beatings. You might remember that these Devil Dolls were the opponents in ADD’s first ever bout, back in August 2011. They beat us then, let’s see how both teams have evolved since. Prior to this bound-to-be epic second meeting on the track, the B.ADD Girls challenge the fiercest and bravest of Dutch Derby girls: those who dare take it up against them in a mixed team….

Flyers and posters will be ready soon, but in the meantime, keep this day free in your diary. More details will follow soon.

Tomorrow: Rainy City Roller Girls vs ADD A-Team

July 13th, 2012

Very early tomorrow morning, the Amsterdam Derby Dames will be on their way to Manchester, where the A-team will bout against Manchester’s Rainy City Roller Girls. It promises to be a very thrilling bout, as we know both teams will give it their all! The game starts at 6pm and on Facebook the final score will be posted as soon as possible. So…….like us on Facebook!

By the way, You might have seen this in de Volkskrant today:

Our class A B-team is heading to Enschede on Sunday

Ma Baker of Eastside RocknRollers in action (by Dennis Stempher)

The first bout of our B-Team is on, this Sunday in Enschede. The battle between the East and West of The Netherlands starts at 16.00, and a no-doubt smashing afterparty is being held a little later at Poppodium Atak.

Mind you, sporting the prefix ‘B’ certainly does not mean that their derby skills are not up to specs. On the contrary: they might not have played that many bouts, but they DID train for months alongside the likes of Kim Wild, San Solo, Furrrocious and Jamakaze (to name just a few). Considering how fired up the girls on both teams are….. it will be one hell of a game on Sunday!

And tomorrow we expect you all at our Dames & Dimes Fundraising party at OCCII. The unofficial ‘East meets West’ pre-party with The Vulgarettes and Hagridden.
